Role overview A full-service design firm focused on data centers, cloud providers, and large-scale construction projects is hiring a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer to support its Data Center Load Management practice. The role centers on developing, reviewing, and sealing electrical plans, specifications, and load calculations for strategic electrical modifications in existing data center environments. Candidates should bring strong technical depth, an eye for innovation, and comfort operating in a high-volume, fast-paced workflow.
Responsibilities - Develop, review, and seal electrical engineering drawings, plans, and specifications in alignment with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. - Support data center electrical design and load management, including strategic load planning tied to customer and site-specific requirements. - Manage a fast-paced workflow across multiple concurrent projects with relatively short turnaround times. - Identify and execute automation opportunities by leveraging CAD/BIM integration, AI tooling, custom software, and advanced Excel worksheets and macros. - Collaborate with internal engineering, commissioning, project, and technology teams to implement site-specific load management solutions. - Run customer-facing meetings to discuss project scope, technical requirements, and engineering decisions.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an active Professional Engineer (PE) license with authority to seal electrical documents. - 4+ years of professional electrical engineering design experience in the construction industry. - Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, distribution systems, and design documentation. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, large datasets, and engineering models. - Familiarity with data center design or other mission-critical electrical environments. - Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam; BIM and Revit experience is a plus. - Strong organization, attention to detail, written and oral communication, and the ability to thrive with ambiguity while working as part of a team.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with data center load management, load planning, or capacity planning processes. - Experience implementing load plans based on customer-specific and site-specific electrical requirements. - Excel automation skills such as VBA, macros, Power Query, or Office Scripts. - Familiarity with any programming or scripting language (training available). - Prior use of automation or AI to improve engineering workflows. - Experience sealing electrical plans in a high-volume project environment.
