Electrical Designer I

Role overview

A full-service design firm is hiring an Electrical Designer I to produce electrical construction documents for data centers and other large-scale commercial projects. The position focuses on drafting precision, standards upkeep, and close collaboration with engineers and project managers in a deadline-driven environment. It is a strong entry point for a designer beginning their career in mission-critical electrical design.

Responsibilities

- Develop, draft, and publish electrical construction documents for data center and high-profile commercial projects. - Execute drafting work under the direction of project managers and engineers to meet defined project requirements. - Help create and maintain company-specific AutoCAD standards and detail libraries. - Coordinate with project teams to resolve design challenges and improve drafting workflows. - Perform quality checks on drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with industry standards. - Maintain project documentation including design revisions, as-built drawings, and technical submittals. - Contribute to Revit model integration and BIM coordination efforts when applicable.

Requirements

- Prior experience as an electrical designer or drafter. - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. - Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. - Ability to work effectively in a team alongside project managers, engineers, and other designers. - Motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and concurrent tasks. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Foundational knowledge of engineering and construction principles.

Nice to have

- Revit experience. - Drafting backgrounds in mechanical, plumbing, structural, or architectural disciplines who want to move into electrical work.

- Candidates must reside in AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, IN, MI, MO, NV, OH, OK, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WV. - Estimated pay range of $65,600-$84,100 in Virginia and $68,800-$88,200 in Washington, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, and location. - Eligibility to participate in benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays, subject to plan terms.
