Principal Streaming Technology Expert

Role overview A principal-level role acting as the senior internal authority on streaming technology for a company operating a top-tier global entertainment platform. The position centers on complex technical assessments, technology risk analysis, deep research, and strategic architectural judgment across video and audio streaming, rather than line management of a team.

Responsibilities - Investigate complex technical questions tied to products, architecture, protocols, and implementations, and develop evidence-based positions on them - Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external experts on formal technical assessments and prepare supporting reports, diagrams, and comparisons - Research technologies, standards, publications, and industry practices, and compare internal solutions against existing industry approaches - Run technical risk analyses on technologies, standards, and third-party solutions, and support due diligence on products and architectural decisions - Track important trends across the streaming ecosystem and flag emerging technical risks that could affect strategy - Maintain authoritative documentation of architecture, protocols, data flows, algorithms, DRM, CDNs, and media pipelines, and preserve institutional knowledge around key engineering decisions - Act as a streaming technology authority across engineering, product, executive, and cross-functional teams, independently reviewing major architectural decisions and analyzing source code, specifications, and standards

Requirements - Deep hands-on knowledge of video and audio streaming architectures, protocols, codecs, CDNs, and related technologies - Ability to independently analyze complex technical systems, standards, implementations, and production architectures - Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences - Native or near-native English proficiency

Nice to have - Experience participating in complex technical reviews involving US-based stakeholders - Experience preparing technical materials for external review or formal assessment
