Role overview A healthcare technology organization focused on women's and family health is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead product security across a cloud-based platform serving consumers and enterprise clients. The role blends security platform engineering with security automation, working at the intersection of infrastructure, identity, compliance, and developer experience. It is a senior, hands-on technical position with broad influence over the company's security posture.
Responsibilities - Design and implement scalable infrastructure that supports HIPAA, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements - Build and maintain identity, authentication, and access management systems using tools such as Okta, GCP IAM, Auth0, or Open Policy Agent (OPA) - Implement observability and anomaly detection across microservices, data stores, and SaaS platforms - Establish Zero Trust principles and enforce least-privilege access across the organization - Develop compliance observability dashboards and automate evidence collection for audits - Create self-service security tools that integrate with developer workflows and version control systems
Requirements - Significant experience as a software engineer with a strong focus on security engineering or infrastructure security - Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP or similar), identity providers, and modern access management patterns - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and ISO 27001, and the technical controls required to satisfy them - Hands-on experience with security automation, observability tooling, and integrating safeguards into CI/CD pipelines - Understanding of Zero Trust architecture, least-privilege models, and modern authentication protocols - Ability to collaborate across engineering, compliance, and product teams to ship secure-by-default systems
