Job details
About this role
Role overview Improve the reliability of shared infrastructure that supports product engineering, including cloud, Kubernetes, and database systems operating across many projects. This is a software engineering role focused on building automation and visibility that reduce manual on-call work, address recurring alert causes, and help teams understand service health. You will lead infrastructure efforts across teams and help establish reliability practices, including for agent-first production systems.
Responsibilities - Build software that removes recurring operational toil and reduces the need for manual on-call intervention. - Drive infrastructure projects from investigation through implementation and delivery. - Identify when cost constraints are contributing to latency or reliability problems, then improve the balance. - Create tools that provide a clear view of system health across cloud projects. - Work with product teams to define service-level objectives and strengthen reliability practices across engineering. - Develop approaches to operating production systems that use agents as a core part of their workflows.
Requirements - Strong software engineering fundamentals and coding ability, with production code as a primary way to solve operational problems. - Hands-on experience operating Google Cloud Platform or a comparable cloud at production scale. - Production experience with Kubernetes, including autoscaling and capacity management. - Experience building automation and tools relied on by other engineers, beyond documentation or manual runbooks. - Ability to independently drive ambiguous reliability projects involving multiple teams, from diagnosis to a delivered fix.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first workplace with an office in San Francisco. - Listed annual compensation range: $213,000–$229,000.
