Role overview
A mid-level Backend Developer focused on Node.js and TypeScript is needed to support software delivery for US-based clients, ranging from established companies to early-stage startups building MVPs. The role spans diverse industries including FinTech, SportsTech, and MedTech, operating inside Scrum teams within a value-driven engineering culture aligned to the Polish time zone.
Responsibilities
- Write readable, testable, and maintainable JavaScript and TypeScript backend code following OOP principles, SOLID, and KISS - Take ownership of backend features from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and deployment - Apply design and architecture patterns when building services and keep documentation up to date - Contribute to AI-powered backend features by integrating LLM APIs and supporting basic RAG or agent-style flows - Translate user stories and business requirements into technical estimates and deliverable solutions alongside the team - Monitor code quality daily and review peers' work within an Agile/Scrum setting
Requirements
- At least 2 years of commercial experience with Node.js and one backend framework such as Express.js, NestJS, or Fastify, applied across one or more projects - Strong proficiency in TypeScript, treating it as the primary language, with practical experience in static typing, advanced types, and TS compiler configuration - Hands-on experience with SQL databases through an ORM or query builder (e.g., Prisma, Knex) and exposure to NoSQL or in-memory databases as data stores - Working knowledge of Docker and GitHub Actions, including how they fit into local development and CI pipelines - Practical understanding of how AI and LLMs work, with experience integrating them into backend features - English at B2 level and Polish at C1 level for team and client communication
Nice to have
- Prior work inside Agile/Scrum teams focused on daily code quality monitoring - Basic experience with selected AWS services for specific use cases - Confidence preparing and debugging Docker-based local environments - Exposure to the earliest product development or MVP creation stages
