Japanese-speaking Technical Project Manager / Bridge Engineer (BrSE)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead technical delivery across client-facing software projects while staying hands-on with implementation and production support. You’ll communicate with Japanese-speaking clients, translate their feedback into actionable engineering work, coordinate developers, and contribute code yourself. The initial work spans an Android and web product in the healthcare space and a business-system modernization project.
Responsibilities - Manage the client feedback loop, turning requests into requirements, priorities, tasks, and acceptance criteria. - Plan delivery, track progress and risks, coordinate releases, and provide status updates in Japanese. - Work with developers to clear blockers, review pull requests, and uphold engineering quality. - Implement features, debug production issues, fix defects, and take over stalled engineering work. - Maintain delivery ownership across multiple Android and web projects. - Raise schedule or technical risks early and propose practical options.
Requirements - Business-level Japanese for practical client communication; a JLPT certificate is not required. - Professional English for engineering discussions and documentation. - At least four years of professional software development experience. - Experience leading technical delivery, reviewing production code, and coordinating developers. - Willingness and ability to code as a core part of the role. - Strong working knowledge of Git, testing, release processes, debugging, and production operations. - Availability for meetings during Japanese business hours and occasional work outside standard hours for releases or incidents.
Nice to have - Uzbek, experience in Japan or with Japanese clients, or familiarity with Android, TypeScript web development, cloud infrastructure, OCR, or legacy modernization. - The current project stack includes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, Prisma, GCP, and AWS.
Benefits and work setup - Mostly remote, with flexibility around client meetings and delivery commitments. - Paid onboarding and evaluation at 10,000,000 UZS gross per month for months one and two; after successful onboarding, 20,000,000 UZS gross per month from month three. - Founder mentorship and project handover during the first two months, with ownership across production software and cloud systems. - Workload and continuity depend on client demand; changes to hours or contract terms are to be discussed in advance and documented.
