Job details
About this role
Role overview Join a small, high-impact analytics team as a Senior Data Analytics Engineer focused on building the data systems, pipelines, and tooling that power decision-making across the business. This is a hands-on engineering role that blends deep SQL and Python work with modern AI-assisted development, owning solutions end-to-end rather than producing dashboards and slide decks.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain analytical pipelines and reporting solutions on cloud and relational data platforms. - Write advanced, performant SQL (joins, window functions, CTEs) to extract insights from large-scale datasets. - Develop internal tools, automation, and APIs using Python and modern web frameworks. - Apply AI and LLM-based features to augment analytics workflows and produce smarter outputs. - Use AI-powered development assistants (such as Windsurf, Gemini, Claude, or Cursor) as part of the daily workflow to accelerate delivery. - Document data architecture and lineage, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Proactively identify opportunities for deeper analysis, better tooling, and operational improvements.
Requirements - 7+ years of professional experience in data analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related field. - Expert-level SQL with hands-on experience on cloud data warehouses and relational database engines. - Strong Python and/or JavaScript skills, including building pipelines, APIs, and internal applications. - Deep understanding of data architecture: how databases are structured, how data flows, and how schemas evolve. - Practical experience with AI/ML capabilities such as LLMs, generative AI, and embeddings, applied to real workflows. - Excellent communication skills, self-sufficiency, and a public GitHub profile showcasing relevant work.
Nice to have - Experience building internal APIs with FastAPI. - Background in business process design or operational analytics. - Exposure to multiple business functions (Finance, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Engineering). - Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
Benefits and work setup - Hybrid work arrangement based in Sofia, Bulgaria, with minimal travel. - Competitive gross salary in the range of 30,000 to 38,500 Euro per annum, benchmarked to local market and aligned with a pay-equity framework. - 25 days of paid annual leave plus public holidays, with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy. - Collaboration with globally distributed colleagues and strong learning opportunities. - Note: visa sponsorship and relocation are not provided.
