Manager, Simulation Infrastructure

Role overview

An engineering management role leading full-stack and infrastructure engineers who own the deployment, scaling and operational health of web applications, databases and cloud platforms supporting large-scale parallel batch simulation workloads. The position owns the strategic roadmap, guides architectural decisions around high-throughput APIs and oversees the tools that power scenario management, run orchestration and results analytics. The role blends people leadership with platform stewardship, partnering closely with adjacent engineering teams.

Responsibilities

- Recruit, manage and mentor engineers, supporting career growth and overall team health - Own the strategic roadmap for web applications supporting simulation workflows, including scenario management, run orchestration, tagging and taxonomy, and results analytics - Guide architectural decisions for scalable cloud infrastructure and container orchestration supporting large parallel batch simulation runs - Oversee relational database design and maintenance, plus secure high-throughput APIs connecting frontends to backend simulation systems - Drive engineering best practice, reliability, observability and cost-efficiency across the platform - Partner with adjacent engineering groups on integration interfaces and multi-quarter project execution

Requirements

- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience - At least five years of software engineering experience spanning backend services and cloud infrastructure, including at least two years managing people directly - Experience guiding teams operating production workloads on container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes at scale, alongside strong relational database ecosystems such as PostgreSQL - Solid background building secure, high-throughput APIs and web services with Go, Python and/or Node.js, paired with modern frontends such as React - Proven track record recruiting, building and mentoring full-stack or infrastructure engineering teams

Nice to have

- Experience managing teams supporting large-scale batch or parallel compute workloads - Track record of running cloud cost optimisation and observability initiatives - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and mature continuous integration and deployment pipelines - Experience overseeing internal developer tools or self-service platforms for technical users - Background in simulation, autonomous vehicles or robotics
