About this role
Role overview This role takes day-to-day responsibility for production infrastructure at an early-stage cloud security business. You will operate the platform and its customer installations, improve reliability and safe upgrades, and build the monitoring and recovery practices needed to identify and handle problems before they affect customers. The position suits an engineer who wants substantial ownership across cloud operations, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, and incident response.
Responsibilities - Set and maintain reliability objectives, symptom-based alerts, on-call practices, and blameless postmortems for the control plane and customer environments. - Manage provisioning, maintenance windows, and safe upgrades across hosted and self-managed installations. - Improve reliability and cost management for platform components, including workload memory, database capacity, queues, and workflow services. - Evolve infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, local development tools, and staging and production environments with appropriate safeguards. - Maintain backups, disaster recovery procedures, continuity tests, and audit evidence for security compliance. - Work directly in the services being operated, using code to investigate and resolve operational issues.
Requirements - Hands-on experience operating AWS, GCP, or Azure in production, including access, accounts, networking, and failure handling; AWS is preferred. - At least three years running production Kubernetes with Helm, including troubleshooting resource limits, memory failures, and rollout problems. - Experience managing multi-environment infrastructure with Terraform and CI/CD using GitHub Actions and short-lived credentials. - Go experience, or Python experience with willingness to learn Go. - Practical observability and SLO experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry. - Production Postgres experience, including backups, point-in-time recovery, migrations, and upgrades; incident leadership and security-minded operations are also expected.
Nice to have - Experience operating Temporal, queues, or ClickHouse, including cost tuning. - Experience deploying and upgrading software in customer-managed environments, or supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or PCI DSS evidence. - Early-stage infrastructure experience and safe use of AI coding agents for operational changes.
Benefits and work setup - Remote across Europe, with on-call duties that are compensated and a team gathering in Europe each quarter. - Async-first work with written documentation and protected focus time. - Competitive salary, equity, and direct ownership of production systems. - The infrastructure is working but still developing; some runbooks and environments need further improvement.
