About this role
Role overview
This is a product engineering role on a lean, profitable AI-native healthcare operations platform that automates clinic workflows such as referrals, prior authorization, scheduling, care gap closure, and patient outreach across voice, SMS, and email. The engineer will own the stack end to end, building backend services, browser automation, document extraction pipelines, and front-end interfaces used by care coordinators, administrators, and patients. The position suits someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment where workflows are explained once and executed autonomously.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate Python and FastAPI backend services on AWS infrastructure including EKS, Kubernetes Jobs, SQS, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Bedrock, and Secrets Manager - Develop React-based web interfaces for coordinator dashboards, admin surfaces, and patient-facing chatbot widgets - Implement browser automation with Playwright against payer portals and legacy systems that lack APIs, including handling logins, OTP flows, and bot detection - Build document extraction and vision pipelines for referrals, faxes, and prior authorization packets, with confidence gating and human review on uncertain outputs - Integrate with electronic health record systems and legacy healthcare interfaces, including REST, HL7, and FHIR-based connections - Develop voice AI touch points on an enterprise conversational AI stack for automated patient outreach
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, pick up new workflows after a single walkthrough, and operate with high ownership - Strong proficiency with Python for backend development and React for front-end work in production environments - Hands-on experience building and operating production systems on AWS cloud infrastructure - Comfort working with browser automation and non-API systems, including navigating bot detection and authentication flows - Familiarity with document extraction, OCR, or computer vision pipelines and confidence-based routing - Experience integrating with healthcare systems, EHRs, or other regulated enterprise platforms
Nice to have
- Prior work with Playwright or similar browser automation tools at production scale - Experience with LLM platforms such as Bedrock for document understanding tasks - Background in healthcare operations, prior authorization, referral coordination, or clinical workflow automation - Familiarity with voice AI platforms, conversational interfaces, or telephony integrations - Experience with HL7, FHIR, or healthcare interoperability standards
