Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering

Role overview Lead a senior cloud infrastructure team responsible for the foundational platform that product and engineering groups depend on. Responsibilities - Manage and develop a senior engineering team, including coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development. - Own operational health across cloud infrastructure: incident response, on-call health, SLOs, resilience, and disaster recovery. - Plan and deliver a multi-quarter infrastructure insourcing program, sequencing work, managing dependencies, and communicating milestones. - Guide technical priorities and tradeoffs across AWS accounts, networking, multi-region Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, GitOps workflows, datastore operations, and compliance-related infrastructure. - Build leverage through internal tooling, automation, and paved paths that let product teams use infrastructure safely and independently. - Partner with service frameworks, platform, data, and product engineering groups on shared infrastructure priorities and cross-team dependencies. - Establish team norms for AI-assisted engineering and reduce toil through automation. - Communicate roadmaps, operational risks, investment needs, and progress to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements - At least two years managing an infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering team at a product company, including managing an on-call rotation. - Demonstrated ownership of incident response, on-call health, and SLO frameworks for critical production systems. - Experience leading at least one multi-quarter infrastructure migration or insourcing program end to end. - Technical fluency in AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code practices, with the judgment to guide discussions alongside senior engineers. - Experience taking over an established team and sustaining engagement, performance, and retention through a leadership transition. - Clear perspective on team norms and practices for AI-assisted engineering. - Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical and operational priorities for varied audiences. - Calm, thoughtful, and accountable leadership style, especially during incidents and periods of change.

Nice to have - Background in vendor negotiations or cloud cost management. - Familiarity with FedRAMP or other compliance-driven infrastructure programs. - Experience operating large-scale datastores or OLAP systems. - Track record of growing a team through periods of organizational change.
