Senior Software Engineer (Scala)

Role overview

A senior software engineering role building full-stack technology solutions for banks, credit and payment networks, infrastructure providers, and their customers. The work centers on designing scalable, immutable, distributed systems for data streaming and backend services using functional Scala. Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable, immutable, distributed systems focused on data streaming and backend services using functional Scala. - Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to build and deliver cloud-based solutions that leverage AWS infrastructure and modern development practices. - Write clean, efficient, well-tested code, contributing to a culture that values quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. - Take initiative in solving complex problems and push boundaries with a hands-on, can-do attitude.

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional experience in software application development. - 3+ years of experience with GCP and AWS; cloud migration background a plus. - 4+ years of hands-on experience with functional programming, such as Scala, Haskell, Clojure, or Common Lisp. - 2+ years of experience working with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL. - Bachelor's degree, or equivalent specialized training plus progressively responsible work experience in technology for each missing year of college.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with the ZIO framework or Finagle libraries. - Prior experience in fintech or banking environments. - 4+ years working with open-source web technologies. - 2+ years of experience in performance tuning and monitoring. - 1+ years working with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling. - Hands-on experience optimizing high-scale server systems. - AWS Developer or Architect Certification.
