About this role
Role overview
A hands-on Staff Software Engineer position focused on designing the cross-platform endpoint agent architecture behind a next-generation Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform. The role blends systems engineering, low-level networking, and concurrency work in Rust and C++, with end-to-end ownership of critical components and technical leadership across endpoint and backend teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build endpoint agent capabilities that run natively across Windows, macOS, and Linux - Develop production systems software in Rust using Tokio and direct operating system APIs - Create cross-platform abstractions for process management, networking, filesystem access, services, and device operations - Build secure agent-to-backend communication using protocols such as TLS, WebSockets, gRPC, or MQTT - Improve agent performance, concurrency, resource usage, reliability, security, and upgrade behavior - Own critical components end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through automated testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support - Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions involving endpoint and backend platform teams - Mentor engineers and establish reusable patterns for cross-platform systems development and AI-assisted engineering workflows
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building systems software, endpoint agents, device-management software, or similar production applications using C, C++, or Rust - 2+ years of experience developing production software in Rust, including asynchronous or concurrent programming with Tokio or a similar runtime - Demonstrated experience delivering cross-platform native software across Windows, macOS, and Linux - Hands-on experience developing against operating system APIs such as Win32, POSIX, or native macOS frameworks - Experience leading the design and delivery of networked or distributed systems using TLS, WebSockets, gRPC, MQTT, or comparable technologies
Nice to have
- Background building RMM, UEM, EDR, endpoint security, or device-management products - Deep familiarity with threading, concurrency, process management, and performance-sensitive systems - Experience with AWS services or other cloud-connected endpoint platforms - Working knowledge of TypeScript, Python, or related supporting technologies - Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, or automated release workflows - Contributions to open-source systems software, developer tooling, or platform projects - Experience using AI-assisted development tools for implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, or codebase analysis
