About this role
Role overview A Staff Applied Machine Learning Engineer role designing and productionizing AI-powered workflows and data-driven product capabilities across the software suite. The position blends data analysis, model development, and production integration while mentoring others in responsible ML practices.
Responsibilities - Analyze product and customer data using Python, pandas, SQL, PySpark, or similar tools to surface modeling opportunities - Build and ship production ML models for classification, recommendation, similarity, ranking, routing, and prediction use cases - Design AI-powered workflows that turn unstructured inputs such as tickets, emails, and logs into structured data - Partner with engineering teams to integrate ML models into production systems through APIs, services, and automation - Define evaluation methods, telemetry, monitoring, and feedback loops for AI-powered product features - Develop reusable patterns and best practices for data ingestion, feature engineering, and responsible AI - Mentor junior data and ML engineers through code reviews, model reviews, and pairing sessions
Requirements - Five or more years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or applied ML roles - Hands-on experience building ML models for classification, recommendation, ranking, prediction, or similar product use cases - Proficiency with Python, pandas, SQL, and PyTorch or comparable deep learning frameworks - Experience with PySpark or similar distributed data processing frameworks - Proven track record integrating ML models into production systems through APIs, microservices, batch workflows, or automated pipelines
Nice to have - Experience with LLM-powered workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, tool use, or agent orchestration - Familiarity with MLOps tooling such as MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, or Vertex AI - Background building agent-assist features or AI-powered operational products at scale - Experience with embeddings, clustering, dimensionality reduction, or latent factor modeling
Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of CAD $220,000 to CAD $280,000 per year, with additional benefits and incentives depending on role and individual impact
