Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI

Role overview

Lead client-facing delivery of AI-powered software that addresses operational challenges in private markets. You’ll take work from discovery through production launch and ongoing improvement, combining product judgment with full-stack engineering and collaborating with clients and internal platform teams.

Responsibilities

- Work with client leaders and end users to identify workflows where custom AI agents can help, then turn unclear needs into scoped requirements and acceptance criteria. - Design and build agent systems, including retrieval and context, tool integrations, orchestration, evaluation, observability, and cost controls. - Own delivery from prototype and client validation through production hardening, rollout, user training, and post-launch support. - Coordinate with platform and product engineers when solutions touch shared systems; make trade-offs that support delivery while preserving reliability, security, and maintainability. - Gather user feedback, improve deployed solutions, document them, and contribute reusable patterns and components. - Guide less experienced engineers on engagements and help them take on delivery ownership.

Requirements

- At least five years shipping production software end to end, including hands-on work on AI-enabled applications. - Demonstrated ownership of delivery and adoption, from interpreting ambiguous business needs to shipping software that gets used. - Full-stack capability across data, services, user interfaces, and supporting infrastructure. - Experience deploying and operating applications on a major cloud platform, with knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production monitoring. - Direct experience working with external clients or customers on scoping, delivery, and relationship management. - Able to use AI-assisted development while understanding, debugging, and explaining the systems you ship. - Strong product judgment and written communication, including the ability to explain technical topics to nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice to have

- Experience in private markets, financial services, or another regulated, data-sensitive field. - Familiarity with application security, contractual data handling obligations, and tenant isolation. - Experience evaluating and regression-testing nondeterministic systems, or a background in consulting, professional services, or forward-deployed engineering.
