About this role
Role overview
We are looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect to serve as a hands-on technical leader for a large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platform operating at very high transaction volumes. The role blends deep architectural ownership with active advocacy for AI-assisted development, guiding engineering teams to modernize systems, reduce infrastructure cost, and scale predictably. It is a strategic yet deeply technical position, focused on bridging enterprise-grade design with day-to-day execution.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical vision for scalable, high-throughput, cost-efficient distributed systems on AWS. - Define and evolve modern architecture patterns for multi-tenant SaaS, including self-service capabilities such as workflow designers, rules engines, and reporting tools. - Lead cloud cost efficiency initiatives across infrastructure, compute, and ML model execution. - Architect high-scale batch and real-time data processing pipelines, ensuring strong governance, security, and compliance. - Champion the adoption of generative AI and agentic workflows across the software development lifecycle, with appropriate guardrails and cost controls. - Run the architecture review process, setting standards, resolving trade-offs, and mentoring engineering teams on microservices, event-driven design, and cloud-native patterns.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and operating large, multi-tenant SaaS platforms on AWS. - Strong coding depth in Java, solid Python skills, and working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript or Kotlin. - Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation, including Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker. - Proven track record integrating generative AI and machine learning into engineering workflows and production systems. - Demonstrated leadership of architectural review processes and engineering standards at an organizational level. - Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience with total cost of ownership analysis for enterprise technology.
Nice to have
- Background in high-volume, real-time data processing and distributed streaming architectures. - Experience building petabyte-scale distributed data platforms. - Familiarity with fraud prevention, identity verification, or authentication systems.
Benefits and work setup
- Opportunity to work on a platform processing millions of transactions and addressing meaningful security challenges. - Established, modern cloud foundation with explicit room to drive modernization and cost optimization. - Hands-on architecture role with high ownership rather than purely meeting-based governance. - Collaboration with experienced engineers and AI/ML specialists. - Competitive compensation tied to the strategic impact of the role.
