Role overview
A fully remote position for an experienced backend engineer to design, build, and support cloud-native services that power high-volume payment transactions. The role centers on modernizing and scaling a payment platform using AWS, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems, while stabilizing existing workloads.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using C#/.NET - Build and support event-driven applications leveraging AWS services such as EventBridge, Lambda, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, and ECS - Design and implement high-volume batch processing systems capable of handling large-scale payment workloads reliably and efficiently - Develop secure, resilient payment processing solutions that integrate with banking networks, payment gateways, and third-party providers - Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to engineering best practices across the team - Apply AI-assisted development practices to improve velocity and code quality
Requirements
- Strong professional experience with C#/.NET backend development - Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and event-driven architecture - Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale batch processing - Understanding of payment processing concepts and integration patterns with financial networks - Experience designing and operating microservices or service-oriented systems - Ability to work remotely within the United States (excluding California); immigration sponsorship is not available for this role
Nice to have
- Experience with containerization (ECS, Docker) and infrastructure-as-code tooling - Background in financial services or payment platforms - Familiarity with modern DevOps, CI/CD, and observability practices
