Automation Engineer III (Contract)

Role overview

This contract role places a Forward Deployed Automation Developer inside a Finance Innovation Hub at a large global social network organization. The position focuses on designing and shipping AI-enabled automation that touches live financial workflows, controls, and compliance obligations. It is a roughly one-year remote engagement based in the United States, paid as W2 with no visa sponsorship offered.

Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end delivery of AI-enabled solutions, from initial discovery through design, build, test, iteration, and production release. - Translate Finance team requirements into technical designs and architectures that fit within the client's existing technology stack. - Embed governance into every solution, including guardrails, fallback behavior, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and audit-ready documentation. - Construct stable data foundations and extensible pipelines that support reliable automation at scale. - Partner with internal architects, debug live issues with stakeholders, and feed field insights back into platform improvements. - Participate in an oncall rotation covering month-end and quarter-end close cycles, including scheduled after-hours and weekend coverage.

Requirements

- Strong software engineering skills in Python, SQL, and API development. - Hands-on experience with AI/ML models, LLMs, or intelligent automation frameworks. - Comfort using modern AI development tools such as agentic frameworks, AI workflow builders, and vibe-coding environments like Claude Code, Cursor, or n8n. - Working knowledge of data pipelines and integration patterns. - Understanding of enterprise controls and audit requirements. - Clear communication skills and the ability to translate Finance pain points into architectural decisions. - Willingness to cover oncall during close periods, including after-hours and weekends.

Nice to have

- Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Consultant. - Domain background in Finance, Audit, or other regulated industries. - Familiarity with the client's specific technology stack.

Benefits and work setup
