Job details
About this role
Role overview
Join a fast-growing publisher advertising team building technology that helps retailers run ad businesses across their own storefronts. This role owns work end to end across partner-facing APIs, ad-serving inputs, reporting, and operational tooling, with a strong emphasis on reliability, observability, and production support.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship features across API integrations, storefront ad-serving controls, reporting views, and partner configuration tools. - Extend public-facing APIs with clear contracts, resilient event processing, dead-letter recovery, error handling, integration tests, and self-service documentation. - Build controls for relevance and quality signals, reserve pricing, and ad-load management, balancing retailer needs across several performance dimensions. - Improve data integrity through attribution, catalog and product-ID mapping, reconciliation, and automated health checks. - Strengthen reliability by defining service expectations, expanding observability, reducing incidents, and contributing to partner-health monitoring. - Debug production issues across service boundaries and collaborate with product, enterprise solutions, serving, measurement, quality, and advertising management teams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience building and operating production backend services. - Strong API design and distributed-systems fundamentals, with professional experience in a backend language such as Go, Ruby, or Python. - A demonstrated record of shipping features end to end, including testing, observability, incident response, and operational ownership. - Experience diagnosing issues across multiple services and working effectively with cross-functional partners. - A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience in advertising technology, retail media, or publisher- or partner-facing platforms. - Familiarity with event-streaming and reliability patterns such as Kafka, dead-letter queues, and idempotent processing. - Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS or GCP, particularly in data- or measurement-related systems. - Experience with data reconciliation, attribution, or catalog and entity mapping. - Experience building customer-facing APIs with documentation, explicit error contracts, and broad integration-test coverage.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote work with flexibility to work from home, an office, or another suitable location, supported by regular in-person team events. - Hiring is limited to candidates in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. - The Canadian base salary range is $145,000–$153,000 CAD, depending on permanent work location and other factors. - The role is eligible for a new-hire equity grant and annual refresh grants, in addition to locally competitive benefits.
