Senior Backend Engineer

Role overview A product studio and venture builder is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of backend systems across a portfolio of client and internal products. The role spans fintech platforms, AI-driven SaaS, and other ventures, with a focus on shipping meaningful software rather than gating behind meetings. It suits an engineer who enjoys system design, hands-on coding, and operating services in production.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate backend services across the full lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through deployment and ongoing production support - Develop and evolve REST APIs and microservice-based architectures for both client-facing and internal products - Partner with founders and product teams to translate business problems into sound technical designs - Contribute to system design discussions, conduct code reviews, and help set engineering best practices across the team - Investigate production issues with a reliability-first mindset, including debugging, incident response, and performance tuning - Reason about architectural trade-offs and make pragmatic decisions about scope, scale, and technology choices

Requirements - 5+ years of professional backend development experience in production environments - Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, ideally with frameworks such as NestJS or Express - Deep understanding of backend architecture patterns, including services, APIs, queues, caching, and asynchronous workflows - Solid working knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and fluent SQL - Demonstrated production experience with debugging, incident response, and performance optimization - Strong written and spoken communication skills, with comfort working asynchronously and remotely - English proficiency at B2 level or above
