Role overview
A Managed Services team is hiring a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and operate AWS environments on behalf of multiple external clients. The role blends hands-on infrastructure engineering with consultative collaboration, helping customers plan roadmaps, optimize cloud spend, and adopt secure, well-architected workloads across a portfolio of accounts.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, implement, and recommend AWS and hybrid on-premises solutions aligned to client business objectives. - Architect and operate network infrastructure using VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and Security Groups. - Build hosting environments for line-of-business applications with EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, EFS, and Auto Scaling. - Apply AWS Well-Architected and security best practices through IAM, AWS Organizations, GuardDuty, and Security Hub. - Test and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies. - Partner with technical account managers and customers on cloud strategy and cost optimization roadmaps. - Define cloud architectures with CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS Control Tower. - Maintain and automate customer runbooks using Systems Manager, CloudWatch, and Lambda. - Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled off-hours maintenance windows. - Contribute to internal R&D and process improvement initiatives using DevOps tooling.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or 3+ years of AWS cloud experience. - AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification, or ability to earn it within 12 months. - Working knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, networking, and security tooling. - Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across diverse infrastructure environments. - Ability to manage time and multitask across multiple customer accounts simultaneously. - Clear communication and teamwork skills for daily collaboration with engineers, NOCs, and account managers.
Nice to have
- Exposure to DevOps automation tooling and scripting for repetitive operational tasks. - Familiarity with remote monitoring, management, and ticketing systems used by managed services providers. - Interest in validating new AWS services or third-party tools through internal R&D projects.
