Role overview A fully remote leadership opportunity to head the data function within a fast-growing consumer health and wellness organization that operates a portfolio of direct-to-consumer brands. The role combines hands-on architecture work with team leadership, setting the long-term technical direction for analytics while partnering closely with Marketing, Finance, Operations, and the executive team.
Responsibilities - Own the end-to-end data architecture, from raw ingestion and pipelines through to analytical models and reporting. - Define company-wide data modeling standards, including schemas, semantic layers, metric definitions, entities, and relationships. - Drive the platform roadmap, including the build-out of a data lake and the migration from Dataform to dbt. - Lead, mentor, and grow the data team, setting priorities, working practices, and individual development plans. - Establish and enforce standards for data quality, governance, documentation, and reliability across the function. - Manage data access controls for sensitive datasets and keep cloud warehouse costs under control. - Act as the primary data liaison across the business, translating stakeholder needs into a coherent data direction. - Present analysis and recommendations to the executive team, turning complex findings into clear, decision-ready narratives.
Requirements - Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern analytical data stacks. - Deep experience in data modeling and schema design, including dimensional modeling, semantic layers, metrics, entities, and relationships. - Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses and data services, ideally BigQuery and Google Cloud, plus dbt or Dataform and Git-based workflows. - Track record designing modern data architecture, including building a data lake or lakehouse from scratch. - Experience owning a data function or a significant part of one, including governance, documentation, and reliability standards. - Demonstrated leadership of data specialists, setting priorities and technical standards. - Experience with large-scale datasets in e-commerce or another high-volume digital business, including subscription metrics such as CAC, LTV, churn, and contribution margin. - Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to present data-driven conclusions to senior and C-level audiences. - Excellent written and spoken English.
