About this role
Role overview A people-management role on the software engineering team of a tech-enabled, pediatrician-led medical group serving children with special health care needs. The position partners with product and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver virtual-first and in-home care experiences, while building and developing a high-performing engineering team.
Responsibilities - Build, develop, and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. - Own engineer career growth, including calibrated feedback, growth planning, and promotion advocacy. - Partner with product, data engineering, enterprise analytics, and foundations teams to shape data models, system boundaries, and integration decisions, proactively surfacing decisions across squads. - Facilitate execution of the technical roadmap with a focus on data-driven decisions, iterative delivery, simplicity, and value creation. - Translate business goals into technical architecture and requirements, estimate product scopes and timelines, and contribute to scalable, stable, and maintainable technical solutions. - Drive forward progress when requirements, ownership, or system boundaries are still being defined, bringing enough structure to unblock the team.
Requirements - 9+ years of software development experience and 3+ years managing engineers as a sustained, primary function. - Experience managing teams that own services across a cloud-based tech stack, with AWS preferred. - Demonstrated ability to navigate change and evolving priorities and to drive progress amid ambiguous requirements. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of working asynchronously and remotely. - A continual drive to clear the path for the team, comfort working across disciplines, and a passion for developing engineers across a full range of professional skills. - Experience driving organization-wide initiatives to improve engineering outcomes.
