About this role
Role overview A Data Scientist role on a small, growing data team inside a tech-enabled pediatric medical group focused on children with complex medical and social needs. The work centers on turning clinical, claims, and social-determinants-of-health data into models and recommendations that directly improve outcomes for patients and inform business strategy.
Responsibilities - Partner with clinical and business stakeholders to translate care and operational goals into well-scoped machine learning and AI use cases. - Design and build ML models that combine clinical, claims, and SDoH features to produce actionable recommendations. - Query and prepare data independently in a cloud data warehouse, perform exploratory analysis, and shape data assets for modeling. - Collaborate with senior data scientists and cross-functional partners to refine data collection, define requirements, and deliver insights. - Present findings to non-technical audiences across the organization in a clear, decision-oriented way.
Requirements - 3+ years of hands-on data science experience with strong proficiency in Python and SQL. - Solid grounding in study design, causal inference, hypothesis testing, and applied research methods. - Experience working in a startup or growth-stage environment; healthcare experience is a plus. - Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS, and/or Tableau for data storage, cloud compute, and visualization. - Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have - Prior work with pediatric, Medicaid, or complex-care populations. - Experience integrating SDoH or claims data into predictive models.
