Role overview
This role leads a new mobile engineering function from the ground up, combining hands-on technical leadership with people management for a fintech focused on retirement benefits. The position is responsible for building and scaling a mobile team, defining the mobile architecture, and shipping consumer-facing mobile experiences that handle retirement account management and administrative workflows.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing mobile engineering team across iOS, Android, and cross-platform disciplines. - Define the mobile architecture, including the evaluation of native versus cross-platform approaches, SDK integration, and runtime performance. - Own the end-to-end mobile release lifecycle, including store deployments, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and staged rollouts. - Establish mobile observability and telemetry practices to track crashes, adoption, deep-linking performance, and engagement. - Partner with product, design, and backend teams to align API contracts, feature delivery, and release schedules.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams with a focus on mobile application delivery. - Hands-on background in native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) development, plus familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter. - Experience with mobile release engineering, including store deployment tooling, CI/CD systems, and device testing infrastructure. - Track record of building observability into mobile products using analytics and crash-reporting tools. - Ability to set technical direction while mentoring engineers and collaborating across product and design.
Nice to have
- Background in fintech, consumer financial applications, or highly regulated product environments. - Experience building greenfield mobile platforms where prior infrastructure does not exist.
