About this role
Role overview This is a hands-on, full-stack Staff Software Engineer role leading technical work within a single team or service area at a healthcare technology company. The engineer designs, builds, tests, and supports features across C# and .NET services, TypeScript and Angular user interfaces, and SQL Server or PostgreSQL databases running on AWS. The work takes place in a regulated environment where protected health information must be handled carefully in every change, and the role leads through strong engineering, clear design documents, and mentorship rather than people management.
Responsibilities - Design, build, test, and maintain reliable full-stack features spanning the .NET back end, the Angular front end, and the database layer. - Break larger initiatives into smaller tasks, lead design for the team's services, and produce short design documents for peer review. - Build and maintain integrations and healthcare data exchange flows that follow industry standards. - Champion engineering quality through code review, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery practices. - Collaborate across teams, plan and organize own work, and adapt quickly as priorities shift in a regulated setting. - Apply secure coding practices and handle sensitive data responsibly throughout the software lifecycle.
Requirements - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications. - 3+ years of experience building healthcare software, including working with PHI under HIPAA. - Strong production experience with C# and the .NET platform, including building REST APIs. - Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern framework such as Angular. - Experience with SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query writing, and performance tuning. - Working knowledge of AWS or a similar cloud platform, plus Git, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD tooling. - Clear written and spoken communication, with the ability to plan own work, collaborate across teams, and adapt to changing priorities.
Nice to have - Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. - Knowledge of secure coding practices and sensitive data handling patterns.
Benefits and work setup - US-based, full-time, exempt position open to candidates located only in the EST or CST time zones. - Base salary range of $150,000 to $160,000 per year, plus variable compensation depending on experience and other factors. - Benefits-eligible with health plans, paid time off, company-paid holidays, and a 401(k) program with a company match.
