Cloud Security Engineer

Role overview A senior cloud security role responsible for securing AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads that power a notebook-style analytics platform. You'll lead security architecture, partner with infrastructure and engineering teams, and help embed secure practices across cloud-native applications. The position blends hands-on technical work with cross-team mentorship and compliance guidance.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and manage security controls for AWS environments and Kubernetes clusters, including isolation and sandboxing strategies for compute-heavy workloads. - Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, enforcing robust security standards. - Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and audits on cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes deployments. - Embed security best practices into CI/CD pipelines alongside development and operations teams. - Monitor cloud security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive remediation. - Provide expertise on compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS, and mentor engineers on cloud security practices.

Requirements - Five or more years of experience in cloud security engineering with deep AWS expertise. - Strong proficiency in Kubernetes security, including cluster hardening, RBAC, network policies, and container vulnerability management. - Expert-level hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code. - Familiarity with AWS security services such as IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, and WAF. - Working knowledge of CNAPP platforms and SIEM solutions for cloud detection and response. - Solid understanding of secure SDLC, CI/CD security, and DevSecOps practices, plus strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice to have - Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), or Terraform Associate. - Security credentials from SANS or OffSec.
