Role overview A growing early-stage software startup is hiring a remote DevOps engineer to lead infrastructure for its recruiter-focused application. The platform aggregates profile data from a billion-scale reach of online sources and helps recruiters engage candidates through automated, personalized outreach. This is a full-time, remote-first role with two-week sprint cycles and significant ownership over technical decisions.
Responsibilities - Take end-to-end ownership of DevOps for a multi-framework back-end application handling real-time profile data retrieval, management, and syncing - Design, build, and maintain infrastructure primarily on AWS using Kubernetes and Terraform - Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Semaphore CI) to support reliable deployments, including blue/green release patterns - Collaborate on a small cross-functional team using two-week sprints, estimating and delivering tickets - Set up and operate centralized monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana - Contribute to backend services written in Node.js and support event-driven microservices patterns where applicable
Requirements - 4 to 8 years of combined back-end and DevOps experience (serious hobby projects count if you can showcase what you built) - Strong hands-on skills in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform - Professional-level written and spoken English - Self-directed ownership style and comfort working in a small, fast-moving team
Nice to have - Helm, Docker, and Bash scripting experience - Familiarity with MongoDB plus Kafka or RabbitMQ for messaging - Exposure to MySQL or Postgres, Redis, NestJS, or Domain-Driven Design - Experience with GCP or Azure, blue/green deployments on Kubernetes, or TDD - Prior background at product-driven startups or scaleups
