Role overview
A fully remote data engineering role at an early-stage, bootstrapped, profitable software startup whose recruitment platform helps recruiters find and engage candidates from public online sources. The core mission is to take ownership of data extraction processes and expand real-time, large-scale access to the profile data that fuels the product.
Responsibilities
- Own the design, build, and ongoing improvement of web scraping and crawling pipelines. - Scale data acquisition to retrieve public profile information reliably and in real time. - Strengthen coverage and quality of the data sources that power the core product. - Plan and deliver work inside two-week sprints, estimating tickets and iterating quickly. - Experiment with new techniques, share learnings, and challenge the team to improve velocity and realism. - Collaborate closely with a small engineering team and leadership on priorities and trade-offs.
Requirements
- 3 to 8 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role; serious hobby experience is welcome if you can show what you built. - Strong hands-on skills in data scraping and crawling. - Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. - A self-directed, ownership-first mindset suited to a remote, iterative team. - Comfort working independently in a small, fast-moving startup environment.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Puppeteer, Python, TypeScript, captcha handling, and data parsing techniques. - Prior experience in a product-driven startup or scaleup.
