Job details
About this role
Role overview
This senior engineering opening sits on the team that owns the routing and scheduling systems powering a large-scale peer-to-peer network. The work centers on a fabric that dispatches billions of requests across roughly 80 million residential nodes, with quality-of-service guarantees built in from the ground up. Candidates can be considered for a senior network engineering track, a staff-level Rust role, or a backend position focused on Go services.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the P2P routing fabric, including path selection, peer selection, and traffic shaping - Build and refine node scheduling and QoS algorithms that operate at internet scale - Contribute systems-level work in Rust, Go, or low-level networking code depending on the specific role - Read and reason about large open-source networking projects to inform architectural decisions - Profile and optimize Linux networking paths, including kernel-bypass and eBPF-based approaches - Translate network-level requirements into reliable, observable production services
Requirements
- At least five years of hands-on experience with the TCP/IP stack and modern networking protocols - Working familiarity with the Linux network stack, eBPF, and/or DPDK - Ability to read and understand large C/C++ codebases such as Cilium and Envoy - Strong systems engineering background in Rust or Go for backend services - Comfort designing systems for scale, fault tolerance, and adversarial network conditions
