Remote job
Senior Data Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and scale the data warehouse and analytics systems that support customer access to data and internal reporting. The role centers on warehouse isolation, reliable pipelines, and automated provisioning: enterprise customers need ad hoc analysis while database controls ensure they can access only their own records. You’ll also partner with internal teams to create useful data models and reporting, with data quality, scalability, and regulatory compliance as core concerns.
Responsibilities - Design and maintain warehouse architecture, customer data isolation, ingestion pipelines, and provisioning infrastructure. - Enforce customer access boundaries at the database layer, including for queries and paths that were not directly designed by you. - Operate and troubleshoot production pipelines, including change-data-capture failures, schema changes, and poor-quality upstream data. - Work with teams across the organization to turn reporting needs into data models and dashboards they can use. - Automate onboarding and infrastructure provisioning, favoring reusable tools over repeated manual work. - Improve data quality, observability, compliance, and cloud cost efficiency across the platform.
Requirements - At least 6 years of engineering experience across data and infrastructure. - Strong SQL and relational database skills; PostgreSQL and Snowflake experience are preferred. - Hands-on experience implementing warehouse-level access controls such as row- or column-level security, role-based access, or role hierarchies. - Experience operating production data pipelines and diagnosing failures, schema drift, and upstream data issues. - Proficiency with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools and a scripting language; Ruby and SQL are used in this role. - Ability to collaborate with non-engineering partners, communicate clearly, and build automated systems with attention to quality, compliance, and cost.
Nice to have - Experience with HIPAA-regulated data; protecting health information is a central constraint. - Familiarity with dbt, Metabase, Kafka or Debezium, or AWS data services.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time, remote role. U.S. work authorization is required. - Listed base salary range: $185,000–$215,000.
