About this role

Role overview A remote opportunity in Brazil for a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the observability ecosystem of a large-scale, cloud-native platform. The position focuses on building the tools, defaults, and abstractions that let many engineering teams ship reliable services without manually operating infrastructure, while balancing performance, reliability, and cost.

Responsibilities - Review the existing platform with fresh eyes, identify weaknesses, and propose better solutions that the team can evolve over time. - Design and evolve cloud-native platform components on Kubernetes and AWS, keeping foundations stable as the company grows. - Build developer-facing abstractions such as templates, CLIs, operators, and golden paths that make instrumentation and self-service straightforward. - Diagnose root causes of cost, reliability, and developer-experience problems and address them at the platform level rather than per service. - Author RFCs, set standards, pair on designs, review proposals, and mentor engineers as a technical reference. - Decide what to stop collecting and where the platform should stay simple, not just what to add.

Requirements - Deep hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem, gained from running real clusters in production. - Proficiency with a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including networking, IAM, cost controls, and common failure modes. - Strong software engineering skills with the ability to write production code in Go, Ruby, or Python to automate work and build tools for other engineers. - Background in platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure at a company where many internal teams depend on shared services. - A bias for removing friction and helping many engineers at once, paired with a willingness to learn observability tooling on the job.

Nice to have - Familiarity with the listed open-source stack, including ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Crossplane, HashiCorp Vault, Kafka, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope. - Comfort using AI tools in daily engineering work and contributing to open-source projects.

Benefits and work setup - Remote position within Brazil, with hybrid options available and a home office reimbursement. - Health, dental, and life insurance. - Paid time off that grows with tenure, plus a dedicated birthday holiday and a fully paid parental leave policy with ramp-back support. - Wellness and emotional wellbeing programs, including a fitness subscription with family coverage and a structured therapy program. - Customizable flexible benefits, learning and development resources, and a culture that emphasizes work-life balance.
