Senior Platform Engineer

Role overview

Build and operate backend platform services that move data from cloud warehouse queries through processing and delivery to downstream systems. The role includes end-to-end ownership of core services, improving reliability as usage grows, and helping develop real-time and AI-enabled capabilities.

Responsibilities

- Develop services for event handling, query execution, result transformation, and export delivery. - Build and maintain APIs and integrations with major cloud data warehouses. - Investigate customer problems, propose practical changes, and measure whether they improve outcomes. - Take part in on-call, help restore service during incidents, and use findings to strengthen reliability and incident response. - Improve platform correctness, performance, security, observability, and operational ease. - Create shared components, automation, documentation, and tools; support teammates through reviews, mentoring, and context sharing.

Requirements

- At least five years of production software development experience, with strong Python skills. - Experience designing, scaling, and maintaining backend services, including distributed systems and end-to-end operational ownership. - Experience with AWS or GCP and building systems with reliability, security, and observability in mind. - Background in a startup or high-growth environment and comfort navigating ambiguity. - Practical use of emerging technology, including AI tools, to improve engineering work. - A collaborative, curious approach, with clear communication and a focus on customer outcomes.
