Staff Frontend Engineer - Grafana DataViz

Role overview A staff-level frontend engineering position focused on building and evolving data visualizations inside a large-scale observability product used by engineering teams worldwide. The role leads multi-quarter technical initiatives and partners across squads to shape user-facing experiences for dashboards, navigation, and content. This is a remote role targeting candidates in US and Canada working in Eastern or Central time zones.

Responsibilities - Lead end-to-end technical initiatives spanning problem framing, user feedback, measurement, and rollout - Mentor engineers through code review, design feedback, pairing on hard problems, and writing that raises team quality - Participate in on-call rotations for the services you help build and act as an incident response force multiplier - Provide technical support during customer escalations and surface high-friction areas to address - Represent the team's work across squads by authoring design proposals, running demos, and advocating for the roadmap

Requirements - Extensive frontend experience with TypeScript and React, including modern visualization libraries - Proven track record leading multi-quarter initiatives at staff-level scope - Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive cross-squad technical collaboration - Comfort with on-call responsibilities and structured incident response - Strong written and verbal communication for design proposals and stakeholder alignment

Nice to have - Familiarity with uPlot and eCharts - Background in observability, dashboards, or data visualization domains - Experience externalizing libraries for independent release
