Remote job
Staff AI Product Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview A staff-level AI product engineering role focused on turning frontier AI capabilities into durable features for independent political candidates and elected officials. The work pairs full-stack product ownership with deep agent design, eval, and measurement, and emphasizes rapid iteration from rough idea to shipped MVP using AI-assisted development rather than manual coding.
Responsibilities - Own and ship large portions of the products that candidates and officials rely on day to day - Move quickly from one or two sentence product briefs to a working MVP within a day or two, then look for ways to compress that cycle further - Lean on AI agents for both writing and reviewing code rather than doing it manually - Design, build, and measure agent graphs, eval systems, and other agentic infrastructure that meaningfully lift team output - Explore the practical limits of what agents can do, both inside the product and in day-to-day engineering workflows - Communicate clearly across a fully remote team and bring clarity to chaotic situations
Requirements - Track record of shipping and iterating on production AI systems with real usage - Hands-on experience designing evaluation systems, building agent graphs, and doing general agent engineering - Demonstrated history of single-handedly delivering internal improvements that measurably increase team output - Strong remote communication skills and a clarity-creator mindset
Nice to have - Professional or volunteer experience in civic tech, democracy reform, political campaigns, or social impact initiatives
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote team within the United States; candidates must be physically based in the US and no visa sponsorship is offered - Public benefit corporation structure that emphasizes social impact over profit - Health, dental, and vision coverage fully paid for employees and dependents - Unlimited paid time off for sick and vacation, plus an individual learning and development budget - 401(k) plan with no employer match, remote workspace setup stipend, and a monthly stipend toward home internet - A deferred bonus denominated in Bitcoin in addition to a posted salary range of roughly $200,000 to $235,000
