Role overview This is a remote, full-time contract Data Engineer position based in Latin America, embedded with a client team through a Talent-as-a-Service arrangement. The engineer will own the full lifecycle of data workflows for custom datasets that support large customers and business partnerships. It is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys end-to-end pipeline work, close collaboration with non-technical stakeholders, and clear technical writing.
Responsibilities - Own data workflows end to end, covering ingestion, storage, orchestration, transformation, validation, and delivery. - Build and maintain reliable inbound and outbound data transfers using cloud storage, secure file transfer protocols, and other integration methods. - Develop and operate ETL and ELT pipelines using workflow orchestration and event-driven processing patterns. - Manage data across cloud storage, data warehouses, and analytical databases, designing and optimizing models, schemas, and queries. - Implement data quality checks, automated tests, monitoring, and alerts so datasets are accurate, complete, and delivered on time. - Investigate and resolve production issues across pipelines and databases, performing root-cause analysis and shipping durable fixes. - Document data flows, dataset definitions, architectural decisions, and operational recovery procedures. - Partner with Customer Success, Operations, and Engineering to clarify requirements, investigate discrepancies, and explain data behavior.
Requirements - 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer working on production pipelines. - Strong Python skills for data processing, automation, and integrations. - Strong SQL skills including complex transformations, query optimization, and diagnosing data discrepancies. - Practical understanding of ETL and ELT patterns, workflow orchestration, and pipeline recovery techniques. - Experience with cloud object storage and file-based data transfers, including SFTP. - Ability to trace data from source through transformations to downstream consumers and explain both behavior and business meaning.
Nice to have - Experience with AWS, particularly Amazon S3 and AWS Lambda. - Experience with Apache Airflow or a comparable orchestration platform. - Experience with PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, or ClickHouse. - Experience managing custom datasets or integrations for enterprise customers or partnerships. - Familiarity with marketing analytics or first-party customer data.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote work, allocated to a client team based in Latin America. - Full-time contract engagement through a payroll platform, with a monthly compensation range of approximately USD $2,000 to $2,500 depending on seniority and skillset. - Hiring process includes a screening interview with the staffing team, profile review by the client, and a client interview before onboarding.
