Remote job
Senior Backend Engineer, Platform Enablement
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build backend platforms and developer-facing capabilities that make software performance testing easier for engineering teams to adopt and operate independently. The role supports a transition from bespoke consulting toward self-service workflows, reusable tooling, and clear guidance. You will work across performance testing, diagnostics, reporting, automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices while helping teams identify risks before changes reach production.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evolve reusable backend platforms for component testing, load testing, performance analysis, and related engineering workflows. - Create self-service workflows, templates, diagnostics, documentation, and AI-assisted capabilities that reduce dependence on one-off support. - Improve performance results, reporting, and trend visibility so development teams can make decisions using their own evidence. - Partner with product engineering teams to embed performance testing into normal development and release preparation. - Convert lessons from hands-on engagements into durable capabilities that can be adopted across multiple teams. - Provide technical guidance on difficult performance problems, tooling improvements, and new platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Professional experience building backend software, internal platforms, or developer tooling. - Experience partnering directly with development teams to improve their daily workflows and engineering practices. - Practical knowledge of software performance analysis, optimization, benchmarking, or leading performance improvements. - Experience applying AI-assisted development practices across implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, or automation. - Working experience with Kubernetes, k6, and a major cloud platform such as AWS or Google Cloud, or comparable infrastructure. - Ability to design durable, maintainable solutions that can be owned by service teams while remaining supported by a central platform function.
Benefits and work setup
The role is remote, with some location-based eligibility requirements depending on where the successful candidate resides. The listed United States base salary range is $156,800-$235,200, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits. The overall package includes flexible paid time off, equity compensation and an employee stock purchase plan, a growth and development fund, parental leave, and employee resource groups. The working model emphasizes asynchronous collaboration, written communication, and broad partnership across research and development.
