Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives that improve database reliability, performance, and scalability across production services - Review schema designs, migrations, and indexing strategies for new and existing features - Investigate complex query performance, replication, and contention problems and drive fixes to completion - Mentor backend engineers on Ruby data-access patterns, ActiveRecord usage, and safe migration practices - Partner with infrastructure and application teams on observability, backup, and recovery standards
Requirements
- Senior-level experience as a backend engineer with deep Ruby on Rails expertise - Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, including query planning, indexing, and transactions - Track record operating high-traffic, multi-tenant data models in production - Familiarity with Git-based workflows, code review, and CI/CD pipelines - Comfort collaborating asynchronously with a globally distributed engineering organization
