About this role
Role overview This role joins the money infrastructure team of a digital asset platform, owning the ledger and payments services that record every crypto and fiat movement across the system. Engineers here design systems where correctness, auditability, and operational safety are non-negotiable, supporting finance, treasury, compliance, and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, deploy, and support ledger and payments services that record crypto and fiat movements accurately. - Build and evolve settlement and reconciliation pipelines connecting to external banks and payment rails. - Identify correctness, consistency, and operational risks, and add software safeguards before issues become incidents. - Partner with finance, reconciliation, and treasury teams to translate real workflows into auditable system behavior. - Design scalable APIs and data models that accommodate new transaction types, products, and regulatory needs. - Produce well-tested, production-grade code that other critical systems rely on. - Monitor ledger and payment system health, drive incident response, and mentor teammates on quality and auditability. - Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Requirements - Five or more years building backend systems in production. - Experience designing and operating distributed, stateful systems where data integrity is critical. - Proficiency in at least one backend language; the primary stack uses Scala and Go. - Familiarity with unit and integration testing and CI/CD pipelines. - Comfort with cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Strong ability to reason about and debug complex system behavior across services and data stores. - Effective cross-functional communication skills.
Nice to have - Background with ledger systems, accounting platforms, payments infrastructure, or financial transaction processing. - Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliation, audit requirements, or regulatory reporting. - Experience integrating with external payment rails such as ACH, wire, or card networks. - Exposure to workflow orchestration tools like Temporal or Cadence for durable, retryable financial processes. - Prior fintech or financial services experience.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive base pay plus discretionary annual bonus and a new-hire equity grant. - Comprehensive health plans, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, and flexible time off. - Hybrid work at hub offices with required in-person onboarding; remote-friendly arrangements supported outside hub regions.
