About this role
Role overview Lead production machine learning across product discovery and visual AI, setting technical direction for search, recommendations, generative models, and computer vision. The role connects modeling strategy to deployed product workflows and measurable outcomes, while guiding senior contributors and scaling systems into reliable infrastructure.
Responsibilities - Direct candidate retrieval, ranking, and learning-to-rank systems for product and design recommendations. - Improve personalization with merchant history, trend, and sales signals, using downstream outcomes to refine upstream models. - Oversee image generation and vision systems for design creation, asset separation, quality checks, and validation. - Prototype and ship ML capabilities from model selection through serving and product integration. - Define evaluation frameworks and A/B testing practices, and guide inference optimization and build-versus-buy choices. - Mentor senior contributors, lead design reviews, and establish applied ML standards.
Requirements - 8+ years developing and scaling production ML, including technical leadership at staff level. - Strong search and recommendation expertise, such as two-tower models, vector retrieval, reranking, and learning to rank. - Hands-on knowledge of computer vision and generative AI, including OpenCV and modern deep vision or multimodal models. - Experience creating feedback loops from clicks, conversions, or sales into model improvement. - Fluency in Python and PyTorch, with practical production experience in serving, asynchronous workflows, MLOps, and data warehouses. - Comfortable making architectural decisions across modeling, serving, and product integration.
Nice to have - E-commerce, marketplace, or creator-platform experience. - Familiarity with vector databases, ML workflow orchestration, experiment tracking, and feature testing.
Benefits and work setup - Remote work across Europe or an office option in Riga, with flexible hours and start times as late as 11 a.m. - Private health coverage, extra paid wellbeing and celebration days, learning support, mentorship, meetups, and hackathons. - Lunch when working from the Riga office and an employee merchandise discount.
