AI Infrastructure Deployment Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a field-oriented electrical engineering role focused on deploying modular GPU compute nodes across industrial, commercial, and build-to-rent properties as part of a distributed compute infrastructure build-out. The engineer owns the full path from property diligence through commissioning, deciding whether a site has viable power, fiber, access, and permitting conditions, then coordinating every party required to deliver a safe, reliable installation. It is a hands-on technical ownership role rather than a desk-only position.
Responsibilities - Travel to properties and assess electrical readiness for modular compute deployments. - Review one-line diagrams, service capacity, transformer and switchgear ratings, feeder capacity, breaker availability, backup power, grounding, and onsite physical constraints. - Identify required utility upgrades, electrical scope, long-lead equipment, permits, risks, costs, and schedules. - Manage electrical design, contractor bids, equipment submittals, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover. - Coordinate with network providers on fiber routes, carrier availability, building entry, redundancy, and turn-up requirements. - Develop a repeatable site-readiness standard and produce concise go/no-go memos for each property. - Partner with compute, cooling, controls, and property teams so installations operate safely without disrupting residents, tenants, or building operations. - Maintain as-builts, capacity records, commissioning documentation, and vendor performance data.
Requirements - 4–8 years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical construction, commissioning, critical facilities, power generation, industrial infrastructure, or data centers. - Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, equipment submittals, and construction documents. - Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS or BESS systems, protection coordination, or power-quality issues. - Experience managing contractors, consultants, schedules, and technical risk in the field. - Comfort with frequent travel to properties across the United States. - Strong judgment, clear written communication, and ability to work across real estate, utility, construction, and technology teams.
Nice to have - Professional Engineer license, EIT credential, data-center experience, utility coordination experience, or an electrical-contractor project-engineering background.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work environment; candidate must live in the United States. - Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions covering both employee and dependent premiums. - Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, dependent care, and parking expenses. - 401(k) plan with a 3% employer contribution regardless of employee participation. - Fully covered life insurance and short-term disability. - Significant equity via an employee stock grant program. - Wellness benefit including mental health resources, flexible PTO, an Employee Assistance Program, and paid parental leave. - Posted compensation range of $200,000–$230,000 per year.
