Senior Backend Developer - Identity and Access Management (IAM)

Role overview A senior backend engineering role focused on identity and access management for a healthcare technology platform used by practitioners and patients. The position sits inside a small, focused pod and is responsible for building and maintaining IAM capabilities with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security. Responsibilities - Collaborate with a focused pod of developers to build and maintain IAM capabilities that protect user data and access. - Contribute to the backend codebase with attention to reliability, scalability, and security, and help break projects into clear, actionable tasks. - Participate in technical design discussions and identify improvements to authentication and authorization flows. - Support the maintenance and uptime of IAM systems, including investigating and resolving production issues. - Work with product, security, and legal stakeholders to ensure compliance and integrity of user data and access. - Stay informed on evolving security practices, frameworks, and technologies relevant to identity and access management.

Requirements - 5+ years of professional software development experience. - Hands-on experience with modern web development, including Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and Apollo. - Working knowledge of authentication protocols, single sign-on using SAML and OAuth, role-based access control, and multi-factor authentication. - A collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and ideas with teammates. - A commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and fostering strong engineering practices. - A demonstrated passion for IAM and security, with interest in the broader threat landscape.
