Remote job
Infrastructure Operations Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Join a global infrastructure operations team that keeps a worldwide fleet of customer-facing compute healthy and ahead of demand. The platform transforms Docker images into lightweight micro-VMs running on owned hardware across many regions, fronted by an Anycast network that routes requests to the nearest instance. The work is deeply hands-on and incident-driven: this is a first-and-last responder role for engineers who genuinely enjoy being dropped into live problems.
Responsibilities - Serve as a primary incident responder, parachuting into outages and degradations and driving them to resolution - Inspect and maintain physical hardware and the hosting stack (a mix of standard components and custom platform tooling) - Operate and evolve the machinery that converts Docker containers into Firecracker micro-VMs at scale - Monitor fleet health, plan capacity, and ensure infrastructure can absorb rapid growth in demand - Support both production customer workloads and emerging "compute for agents" use cases on the same underlying platform
Requirements - Strong, demonstrable comfort with incident management in a hands-on-keyboard, visceral sense rather than a procedural one - Solid background in infrastructure operations, systems engineering, or a closely related production environment - Ability to debug across the stack, from physical hardware through hosting software to application layer - Comfort working remotely and asynchronously as part of a distributed team
Nice to have - Experience with micro-VM technology, container runtimes, or global Anycast networking - Background supporting workloads used by AI agents or other automation systems
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote position - Standardized salary of $190k USD (no negotiation, designed for pay equity) - Competitive equity grants with a long exercise window - Flexible vacation time, with a minimum baseline - Hardware and phone allowances - Hiring process built on paid work-sample challenges rather than traditional interview gauntlets
