Remote job
Networking Engineer: Proxy and Corrosion
Job details
About this role
Role overview A distributed systems engineering position focused on operating and advancing the proxy and routing layer behind a global container platform. The work centers on absorbing far faster state churn from autonomous agent workloads while still serving traditional request/response traffic, with both flowing through a single high-throughput edge proxy and shared routing data store. It is a fully remote role well suited to engineers who enjoy systems-level Rust and large-scale networking problems.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain a Rust-based reverse proxy that fronts a global Anycast network - Evolve the routing data plane so it can keep up with rapid lifecycle changes from short-lived, agent-driven workloads - Sustain long-lived stateful sessions running alongside bursty, irregular traffic patterns on the same infrastructure - Operate and harden the shared routing database that customer applications and internal orchestration both depend on - Partner with the Go-based orchestration team on provisioning, machine lifecycle, and overall platform reliability - Improve observability, latency, and failure isolation across the edge and load-balancing stack
Requirements - Production experience writing systems-level Rust for networking, proxy, or similar high-performance services - Strong grasp of TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP, and modern load-balancing techniques - Comfort with operating systems internals relevant to fast, concurrent network programs - Familiarity with distributed systems that span global infrastructure - Ability to reason carefully about concurrency, state, and failure modes in high-throughput environments
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with microVMs, sandboxing, or container runtime internals - Background in anycast, BGP, or other edge-networking topics - Working knowledge of Go for service code
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote; candidates must reside in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, or the United States - Base salary of $190,000 USD plus competitive equity grants with an extended exercise window - Health care benefits, flexible vacation with a minimum floor, and hardware and phone allowances - Hiring is conducted through hands-on work-sample challenges rather than traditional interviews
