About this role

Role overview A Platform Engineer is needed to own the core infrastructure that powers a fintech operation bridging regulated financial services with modern software engineering. The position focuses on building and running the internal systems, tooling, and cloud foundations that every product team depends on. It is a hands-on, design-oriented role rather than a passive maintenance job, with direct influence on engineering standards.

Responsibilities - Architect and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes, including container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code. - Build, refine, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, internal developer platforms, and shared tooling. - Evaluate, integrate, and roll out new tools and services that improve how software gets built. - Partner with product and business stakeholders to remove delivery bottlenecks and accelerate shipping. - Own production systems end-to-end, from architectural decisions through incident response. - Strengthen security posture, observability coverage, and overall engineering quality bar.

Requirements - Pragmatic problem-solving mindset that favors the simplest working solution over complexity for its own sake. - Hands-on experience with containers, orchestration, and cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or AWS. - Ability to write clean, maintainable code, with willingness to work primarily in Kotlin and TypeScript. - Strong collaboration abilities, including the skill to explain technical decisions to non-technical audiences. - Drive to grow continuously and take on unfamiliar challenges rather than repeat the same work.

Nice to have - Background in financial services, payments, or other regulated environments. - Familiarity with managing JVM-based micro-services. - Track record of taking projects from initial idea through production launch. - Experience operating effectively in distributed or remote-first teams.

Benefits and work setup - Distributed-first working model with access to a physical office space in Berlin. - Hardware and tooling budget covering productivity needs such as a modern operating system and IDE licenses. - Home office stipend to support a productive remote setup. - 30 days of paid time off. - Meaningful equity participation. - Transparent culture featuring regular company-wide gatherings, brown bag sessions, and team offsites.
