Role overview
A senior-level backend engineering role focused on building and scaling the core APIs that power a real-time device intelligence and fraud detection platform used by a wide range of enterprise customers. The position centers on designing high-throughput backend systems, owning features from concept through deployment, and helping the team multiply capacity safely as traffic grows.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize backend services that handle large-scale real-time data processing and web traffic - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate services while preserving performance, reliability, and scalability - Investigate problematic features, form hypotheses, run experiments, and translate findings into actionable engineering improvements - Conduct performance tuning, debugging, and testing to keep backend systems efficient and dependable - Share engineering best practices and mentor junior developers to grow overall team capability - Participate in a shared on-call rotation with predictable scheduling and equitable coverage
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional backend development experience - Strong demonstrated experience with Go and/or Node.js, with willingness to learn the other - Background designing and maintaining scalable APIs, real-time data pipelines, and microservices architectures - Solid SQL skills and hands-on experience with databases such as DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch - Proficiency with general engineering tooling including Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD - Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to work independently on a globally distributed remote team
Nice to have
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience - Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation - Familiarity with TypeScript, Express, ClickHouse, dbt, or analytical stores such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks - Observability tooling such as Datadog or comparable monitoring and logging platforms - Containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes - Contributions to large open-source projects and comfort with asynchronous communication across time zones - Working knowledge of internet security and privacy mechanisms
