Senior Software Engineer (Backend) (Remote)

Role overview Build backend services and APIs for a product that supports commerce and financial workflows in the construction sector. The role focuses on designing reliable, low-latency systems that can scale in production, with room to shape architecture as products evolve in response to customer feedback.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs. - Build systems for performance, scalability, and low response times in a cloud environment. - Apply sound software architecture so services remain understandable and adaptable as requirements change. - Work with SQL databases, distributed systems, and service-to-service data formats. - Contribute to event or stream processing solutions where needed. - Collaborate in an iterative product environment, refining systems as customer needs become clearer.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - 2–5 or more years of production software development experience in Go, Java, Scala, or C++. - Strong grounding in algorithms and data structures, including practical application. - Experience working with SQL databases. - Experience with microservices, distributed systems, serialization protocols such as Protocol Buffers, and stream processing.

Nice to have - Experience with Go or GraphQL. - Familiarity with Kafka or Kinesis and interest in financial technology.
