Engineering team lead (Remote)

Role overview Lead a team of roughly 4–10 engineers while staying involved in writing and reviewing software. You’ll help build the team and its working practices, partner with product, design, and engineering peers, and develop toward an engineering management role as the organization grows.

Responsibilities - Guide the team’s engineering work while contributing code and reviewing proposed changes. - Recruit and hire software engineers, and help the team grow sustainably. - Coach engineers, including experienced technical contributors, through feedback and mentorship. - Set a strong team culture that supports ownership, urgency, and high-quality engineering. - Prototype solutions and communicate technical decisions clearly to colleagues across disciplines. - Work with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver new products and systems.

Requirements - At least 2 years of engineering management experience and 4 or more years as a full-stack software engineer. - Experience recruiting, coaching, and helping a senior technical team perform at its best. - Ability to prototype solutions and give constructive code feedback. - Strong communication skills, including explaining complex ideas in straightforward language. - Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - Experience with distributed systems and React.

Nice to have - Experience with Go or GraphQL. - Interest in financial technology and building products with broad economic impact.
