Role overview A senior individual-contributor engineering role focused on designing, building, and shipping high-performing software within an insurance technology organization. The position combines hands-on coding with technical leadership of one or more applications, partnering with business stakeholders to translate ambiguous needs into reliable solutions. It is intended as a stepping stone toward a lead engineering role.
Responsibilities - Design, code, test, and document software solutions that follow internal development standards for performance, security, and maintainability - Build and maintain complex integrations between in-house systems and third-party platforms, including impact analysis for interface changes - Perform unit, regression, security, and load testing to validate production readiness of internally and externally developed code - Develop estimates for project and ongoing maintenance work, and contribute to architecture and solution design discussions - Translate loosely defined business problems and objectives into functional technical solutions - Lead the technical aspects of one or more applications, acting as owner for business-facing technologies and mentoring other developers - Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional IT teams on integration efforts and feature delivery
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - 4-7 years of hands-on experience designing and building applications and interfaces - Production experience with Angular, .NET development, and Azure cloud solutions - Ability to design and implement a normalized relational database schema - Familiarity with multiple SDLC methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall - Significant experience with cloud platforms and integration tools, including Azure or AWS serverless functions
Nice to have - Prior experience in the insurance industry - Hands-on work supporting integrations and using Accord XML or REST APIs - Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power Automate and Power Apps
